From many spots around Cache Valley you can see two major landmarks that define Logan, and are unavoidably intertwined. The "A" on top of Old Main at Utah State University, and the Logan Temple. Both are located on hills, so as to be easily seen throughout the area. The "A" in particular can be seen from miles away, shining blue on special nights to let the locals know if the football team managed to pull out the victory. This was installed in 1909, well before the locals would be able to quickly check their smart phones to determine the score of the game.
