A 64-acre zoo where you can check out animals in their natural habitats as well as exhibits highlighting local and worldy ecosystems. They also have a train - everyone's favorite. See porcupines, crocodiles, monkeys, bears, tigers, leopards, Asian elephants, owls, rhinos, macaws, mandrills, cheetahs and so much more. Don't forget about the $4-$7 parking charge.
The Oregon Zoo is open every day of the year, except Dec. 25. Hours change seasonally Summer (May 25 to Sept. 2, 2013) 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., grounds open until 7 p.m. Fall (Sept. 3 to Dec. 31, 2013) 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., grounds open until 5 p.m. Winter (Jan. 1 to Feb. 28, 2014) 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., grounds open until 5 pm. Spring (March 1 to May 24, 2013) 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., grounds open until 5 p.m.
The zoo is part of 400-plus-acre Washington Park in hilly Southwest Portland.
