When the Olympics came to Salt Lake City in 2002, it was an amazing time. People came from all over the world to participate in the excitement and joy of the Olympic Games. One of the great stories to come out of that was the Speed Skating Oval located in Kearns, Utah. Skaters were putting in the best times of their careers. By the time it was over, 10 Olympic and 9 World Records were set on the ice, earning the Utah Olympic Oval the title of the "Fastest Ice on Earth".
Nowadays you are more likely to see a dad holding the hand of his little girl as they slowly make their way around the ice than you are likely to see Olympic-caliber racing. Though the U.S. Olympic Speed Skating team still trains there, the oval is open every night to anyone who wants to feel a little bit of the Olympic spirit. Whether or not you can ice skate very well, you can still enjoy Olympic-sized fun!
