Sometimes the phrase "family diner" is thrown around willy-nilly, applied to any place that has a kids' menu you can color on. But Kriner's Diner is the real thing, a restaurant run proudly by a family, serving up good food to your family. Besides having a last name that is great for an aspiring diner owner, Andy Kriner is a proud American, staunch conservative (though the website clarifies that all political opinions are welcome at Kriner's), and technologically savvy. Before you head over, be sure to check the Twitter feed, which sends out info about a daily special or other diner news nearly every day.
Head over for the family-friendly atmosphere, but stay for the incredible, hand-pressed burgers on homemade buns. Ask for a recommendation, and you'll probably be told to try Andy's Awesome Burger, a unique combo of onion strings, jalapeno cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce. Or go for something you'll probably only find in Alaska, a sandwich made with reindeer sausage. And the kids will certainly find lots to enjoy from the "Grandkids Menu". Whatever the choice, you (and your family) won't leave hungry.
